a lopsided intimacy looks at the internal blurring of boundaries, a refinement of decisions, and a containment that refuses, yet lies within, fragility. The paintings look to present recovery from Anorexia Nervosa in a nuanced, profound and honest way, emphasising strength and self-empowerment. 

The series draws attention to the mellow space between, soft, buttery, meringue, fading in and fading out. Each painting is part of a larger whole, having been returned to over a period of days, weeks and months, and as such, the longevity of the process is as salient as the final piece. Each painting has reached a level of completion, a dash in a sentence. They are an understanding of the pulling closer and the pushing away, suspended and expanding. 

By highlighting the passing of time while creating these paintings, a lopsided intimacy reveals the understory, the backstory and the notes within the margin, the intimacy of touch that lies just away from the surface, yet simultaneously is within reach.
