contemporary figurative & abstract painter

Kirsten is a UK based figurative painter who, through her interdisciplinary approach to art making and depiction of the tide, questions the integrity of heterotopian landscapes and the hazy confinements of causal temporality.
A central theme to Kirsten's artwork is the notion of residue, intimacy and rumination, seeing her utilise paint and auto-ethnographic writing to (un)make, (re)scribe and (re)form the surface, and, as such, she depicts landscapes that flirt with figuration and hesitate on, near and with abstraction.
Perhaps the nook of an elbow, or the crest of a wave.
She is passionate about exploring the possibilities of scale, form and figure within site-specific painting and painting as installation, enabling an elaboration of the concepts central to her - containment, boundaries and abjection of the body.
